Apartment Hunting #2
My favorite Craigslist offer so far:
Available: November 1st
-$700 + $30-40/mo for electricity.
Next largest room, good size w/window + closet....you can fit a queen.
Thats it, landlord pays for everything else including internet. We dont have cable, just movies. A great place, totally rennovated, i have real furniture, huge kitchen, living & dining room, front and back yards. YAYYYY!
2,3,4,5 trains to Franklin Ave. So its located in crown heights. Its a good spot because theres access to a lot of trains (you can get like the N,Q,R,D,LIRR @atlantic as well). Its like 25 minutes to union square. Its also a 15 minute walk to prospect park, brklyn library & museum, as well as a bunch of restaurants and bars in prospect heights. BUT its definitely in crown heights. its primarily a caribbean neighborhood. Its familyish and all my neighbors are super nice. But being a girl, youre going to have a few comments walking around from dudes. Some are super ridiculous and say such things that it makes you laugh sometimes. Its like Italy. if a daily remark about the sexiness of your ass is something that bothers you, you shouldnt live here. if you wouldn't live in harlem, you shouldn't live here. Im only stressing this cause my current roomate (who i love!) JUST moved in, really isnt comfortable in the neighborhood, and decided to get a place in manhattan. Me, I love it :)
I always feel safe, its not park slope but its not east new york.
PLEASE only email me if you think we'd really get along!!! I've narrowed it down to what i think really works for me (and you, hopefully!)
YOU:
Young (26 & Under)
Female
Clean (but not ANAL)
Listen to hip-hop/r&b/reggae
Social
420 Active (please be this!!!)
Really F*ing Cool
ME:
All of the above plus I like to drink;) I also like snow, dogs, men, meat, mascara and dresses. LOVE to travel and am an in the closet humanitarian/ environmentalist AND I work+go to school (u know, i have goals)....so im basically not a bum!
Really, this is a nice, comfortable, social apartment. Im looking for someone a bit more long term than past roomates. If you REALLY want to live alone but cant afford it, heres not the place. I like having roomates. I have too many friends that i dont have enough time to see, so im not super lame and looking for friends, but i really like having roomates who i AM friends with. OH and dont move here either if you REALLY want to live in manhattan. I say this cause thats where all my roomates end up going....to live by themselves or in the city! Most of us are still friends:)
Good effort if you've gotten this far. i know its alot but theres so MANY people in new york and id really only like to find the ones like me :) if youre a dude and you think youre absolutely perfect for the situation AND you'll cook for me and promise to keep tidy, email me.
Send me at LEAST a good paragraph on yourself (not a sentence!) and hopefully a myspace or facebook link.....
Good Luck!!!
OMG!!! I love snow, dogs, men, meat, mascara and dresses, TOO!!! (minus a couple of those).
Seems like a nice girl, maybe a little nuts, definitely chatty, probably not my style. But I very much enjoyed the latent racism masked by joyful outlook on life (and exclamation points, gotta have those exclamation points.)
But you can't be too picky. She "has goals," seems cool, would probably get along with my single guy friends. No potential roommate is gonna have what I'm really looking for: a little cynicism, understated intelligence, cable and/or bi-polar disorder (to keep me on my toes).
I think I'll keep looking though. We're getting warmer.

Apartment Hunting
I'm trying to find a new place to live starting in January. My least favorite offer on Craigslist so far:
2 bed room apartment but is shared with 3 people, meaning, one person is staing in the living room which is separted with nice curtain. But your room is 12x12 large private room has 2 windows and big closet. Your roommate will be 2 professonal Asian females. No shoes in the house.
Quiet and neat and friendly person is wanted. Utilities (electric, gas, wireless internet access are not included and around $55/mo.
No cable TV,home phone sharing. No party at home.
This isn't exactly the portrait of freedom I envisioned.
No party at home. That's just great. No TV either. Just collectively working on Masters theses and mapping out career plans -- in giant woolen socks.
